Preliminary Task reflection

Reflection after completion of the task

What went well - Within my group we all worked really well together meaning we all helped one another if we thought something looked bad or wasn't right we would tell one another and then change it.

What could have gone better - Looking back I smiled in a few shots and we cut of Georgia's character a lot when she was talking so it was quite unclear on understanding what she was saying to my character. Furthermore to improve this when we film the real task we will press record two seconds before actually filming and then edit this out so we can catch all the words said clearly.

Preliminary Task Reflection

For the OCR G321 Preliminary Task, my group Emma, Georgia, Sabrina and I (Laura), were required to create a short film, a clip almost, which had to last no longer then two minutes. Also we had to the edit the audio visual production. We were required to complete a match-on-action of a character walking through a door, a character walking in a room and then a shot-reverse-shot of two characters exchanging dialogue at a table. In order to be successful we had assigned all the roles, characters, editors etc to the people we felt suited it within our group. For example Sabrina didn't want to be on camera so therefore she helped with filming and the editing side compared to Georgia and I who didn't mind being on camera so was the main characters but then obviously didn't help film it.

Research on Film included jobs

Research :

Name of production company -When the first credit appears it is normally the production or company that has funded and created the film for example - Compass International Picture presents (this is from Halloween, 1978) Therefore I know that I will need to make my own production up when creating my opening.

Name of Studio - This is very similar to the production company name apart from it is where it was and is created during filming.

Actors/Actress' names - This is during the opening credits and I would use throughout the opening. When the person staring in the opening appears on screen, seeing from past film opening, I will have there name appear on the screen so the audience can see it is them. I can use openings such as 'Starring Laura Bishop' or just simply have there name 'Laura Bishop.'

Editor - The editor is the person who edits the film throughout.

Director of Photography - This is the person who is responsible for all the photographs in the shots in the movie

Producer/Produced by/ Executive producer - They are the people who get the movie out there and pay money to get it produced within the media industry and then the executive producer is the person who over sees the producer on behalf of the studio and the financiers or the distributors so they will ensure the film is out on time etc

Based on the Book/ Characters by-  Meaning if the story/plot is based on a true story the characters are sometimes mentioned within the credits because they are the true character that has been created for entertainment reasons.

Writer(s) Written by/Screenplay/ Screenplay by - This is the screenplay writers so the people who actually create the whole thing and have wrote the script etc

Director/ Directed by - They are very important they are the person who has put it all together meaning directed each scene to create the story (they normally appear last in the credits)

Released date - 5th of August 2016

Budget - 175 Million USD

Box office - 745.6 Million USD

Running time - 2 hours 16 minutes

Opening sequence - The start has the camera flying over fields, these fields however are very dark and gloomy foreshadowing to its audience that the camera is going somewhere no one really goes to and is a bad place almost. Then the camera captures a good image and full image of what looks like a skull. This is effective because it tells and shows the audience who ever is going to be fully shown next is bad news and is not to be messed with because they are comparing a skull with them and skulls almost represent death. Further on it goes to one of the prisoners, dead-shot, in his cell and the angle filmed is really effective because of the low angle shot shows the evil character he is and also helps to build tension on his character towards the audience. After it flicks from this shot to another shot of the prison guard and then back to dead-shot this is effective because the audience now know where he is and how the guards are and act with/ towards the prisoners.
